Review: Richard Julian, Sunday Morning in Saturday’s Shoes
Stop me if you’ve heard this before. Richard Julian is a singer/songwriter/guitarist living in New York who writes oh so clever and oh so very hip little ditties about himself, his relationships, and his very cool and very chill and juandiced view of the world. This is music for the urbanites who know they are just too cool for words and who have weekly dinner parties to reassure themselves that this is true.
The song list comes with a cocktail recipe for each song (“Try em. They’re real.”) which tends toward drinks for people whose drug of choice is alcohol but who are waaaaay too cool for beer and like to have that alcohol taste masked in candy drinks. Have no fear, drinking one of these cocktails will let everyone know how achingly hip you really are because they were created by a mixologist. “Mixologist” lol. Pretentious much?
Julian is an adept guitar player an there is some welcome variety to hissongsbutit’s alltooprecious andsoveryveryhipand zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Oh! What!? The CD’s still going? Got anything else we can listen to?
